Ms. Sara Zimmerman (BSc, Yoga Ed. Dip, ECE Dip.) brings to PSS decades of experience in Early Childhood Education and is also business owner here in Regina.
Ms. Zimmerman holds a Bachelor of Science degree, an Early Education Diploma, and is currently pursuing her Masters of Education. She is a passionate raw-food vegan, loves the Waldorf/Reggio approach, is an avid gardener, and values being a part of change in education.
Kim Weiss (Principal/Cattails Teacher)
Ms. Kim Weiss (D.Acc. B.Ed, Sp.Ed) has teaching experience in both the private and public school systems. Ms. Weiss has a special interest in Waldorf Philosophy and uses many of these methods in her daily teaching. Ms. Weiss incorporates a strong focus on active math, handwork, nature, and rendering art in daily lessons.
She was instrumental in founding the school in 2009 and has worked within the school in many different roles over the years. Ms. Weiss travelled extensively after graduation, landing in eastern Canada to complete a Diploma of Acupressure from the Canadian College of Natural Medicine in Bedford Nova Scotia. Following, she returned home to Regina to study science and education at the University of Regina, receiving a degree in Secondary Health and Special Education certificate in 2004.
Ms. Weiss plays the piano, fiddle, guitar, and loves to sing. She enjoys spending time doing yoga, gardening, eating and cooking healthy food, being outdoors and playing with her two sons.
Carla Wilson (Fireweeds Teacher)
Ms. Carla Wilson (B.Ed.) was born in Regina and developed a love of French and Art through her many learning experiences at Pasqua Recreation Center, The Neil Balkwill Center and the French Immersion program. She has always enjoyed making music, dancing, claywork and painting as well as camping at Lumsden Beach Camp, which she directed in 2004.
After completing the Arts Education program at the University of Regina in 2003, Ms. Wilson worked as an art teacher for the City of Regina and the City of Calgary. She has worked as an interpreter for the Mackenzie Art Gallery and has taught grade K-9 in French, Art and Mathas an educator for Regina Public Schools and Calgary Arts Academy.
Ms. Wilson is the loving guardian of two fantastic cats and has been enjoying re-connecting with the arts community in Regina since moving back from a 5-year stint in Calgary. Her love of dance, berry picking, drafting, canoeing, languages, chess, ceramics and art history inform her daily teaching.
She is very happy to be a part of the community of Prairie Sky School!
Jillian Scott (Administrative Coordinator)
Ms. Jillian Scott (B.Sc., D.Eco) has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Diploma of Ecological Land Management. She is a certified Master Organic Gardener and Master Composter.
Ms. Scott has been involved in the non-profit sector for the last 15 years as a Board Member and Administrator. She has been involved with Prairie Sky School since the planning phase in 2008 as a Parent, Volunteer, Board Member, Fundraiser and currently as the Admin. Coordinator/Bookkeeper.
She has two sons, is a passionate environmentalist, and a great lover of cats, plants and living creatures in general.
Nicola D'Agnone (Taproots Teacher)
Ms. Nicola D’Agnone (BA, B.Ed) holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Anthropology, and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Regina. She also received a Diploma in Fine Woodworking and has been self-employed as a designer and builder of one-of-a-kind furniture.
Nicola has always had a great affinity for the outdoors. She spent many summers working at YMCA Camp Ta-Wa-Si in a variety of roles, including Program Director and Out-tripping Coordinator. In her spare time Nicola loves to spend time outdoors gardening, camping, canoeing and exploring with her family. She is happy to be a part of the Prairie Sky School community.
Anna Rose (Rosebuds and Starflowers Teacher)
Ms. Anna Rose (B.Ed) is delighted to inspire young minds as our JK/Kindergarten Teacher. As well as being a passionate mother of three, she loves baking, gardening, singing, painting, exploring nature, telling stories, cooking, and having fun with food, especially with young children. She enjoys being part of a school community that shares these values. Anna earned her Elementary B. Ed. From the University of Regina, and has always had a special interest in alternative education. Whether from growing up in an alternative Christian school, homeschooling, or simply being part of a dynamic pioneering community, Anna has plenty of experience “thinking outside the box.” Believing that nature is the best classroom, and play the best teacher, Anna works towards fostering children's natural sense of wonder and creativity.
She enjoys bringing ritual and reverence to the changing of the seasons, and celebrates the rhythms of the day, week and months both in her home and in the community. Teaching at Prairie Sky allows her to do almost all the things she loves most in what she often calls her "dream job".
